That looks like a good seminar

October riding is great too. I've got my '80 G resurrected from my crack-headed neighbors who pushed it into the ditch one morning. But somehow, riding a bike that you've seen bent up is not confidence inspiring. So, I'll be moving the touring gear to the 79 F - which I would have done long ago except that the 80 was in original condition. The 79 actually has better carbs, and real speedometer (not the 85 mph slow meter from that silly 55mph experiment and all the de-tuning from the 1980s). I still have some jet-work to do still - already down 6 sizes after replacing the sadly decayed 79 mufflers with shiney parts off a new Road King. Those newer harley pipes don't move nearly as much air as a higher reving early japanese muscle bike.

I will make you a deal. If you ride your bike (weather permiting), I will ride my road king and we can take a drive through the Arches one evening. Taylor

Your on.

As if I needed a reason to play with carburator cleaner.

I'll bring the '79 Special (like some kids are 'special' in school).

That'll give me a reason to get the touring gear and fork brace installed.

Sounds like a good shindig, wish I could come. The latest issue of Newsweek depicts Robert Redford's Provo Resort---a heavenly place. sigh. I stopped having motorcycle and ultralite fun with the birth of my most recent son. If I'm lucky, I'll be in Grand Rapids for the Midwest Regional poly conferance next Fall. Let's see, flat, featureless Grand Rapids (no disrespect) and the inevitable dinners at Subway Sandwhiches, or mountainous, open road and mystical Utah. BIG sigh.

Sounds like fun. I just found out that I can't even go to the Midwest Regional Poly shindig because of a wedding (yawn), much less beautiful mystical Utah. Let's see, excruciatingly boring Jewish wedding with wife, or yucking it up with grimy, overweight polygraph examiners. I am so p-whipped it isn't even funny.

Here is the Midwest Regional Polygraph Schedule for Day 1:

8am Bagpipe star spangled banner (cool)
83am Vague education on poly scoring which will beg more questions than it answers
10am War stories and some karate home videos of presenter
11am War stories by shrink--who reminds the room that "of course, you all already know this"---and he is absolutely right.
12 lunch
1pm Vague suggestive practices with stuttering speaker who will repeatedly compliment the audience.
2pm Malfunctioning power point projector with akward presentation on question formulation.
3pm Unscientific analysis on criminal behavior with interesting war stories, and a 4 year old video with poor sound.

Later on in the hospitality room----very interesting discourse and debate on the relevant issues of our trade. Highly educational discussions, and humor to boot.

Hey Stat ! I "resemble" (resent) that remark! I'm the fat guy who is speaking at the Mid-West and I don't know karate, I don't stutter and I don't even own a home movie camera or projector!!!

Great Stat!

Now you have offended "The Man". Good God man-have you no shame?

(By the way, I have heard Skip stutter once in the hospitality room)

Skip- If you are indeed speaking at the Mid-West seminar, you SHOULD learn Karate. They are a nasty, hostile bunch!

I was kidding y'all-----I did not use the actual schedule in my tongue in cheek run- down of speakers.
Skip, prepare yourself for a good time. The Amway Grand Hotel is awesome-----way too up- scale for our needs. Check out the 15 person hot tub with towel attendent and juice bar in the spa---which I bet will be empty (again) as no one remembers to bring swim wear. A war story argument from last year was when we were discussing New Orlean's recovery and a detective took great offense to the then New O. mayor's remarks that he wanted to assure the displaced minority that "New Orleans would be a chocalate town once again." As a lover of jazz music and the big easy, I stated to the group of mostly detectives from Chicago PD that New Orleans is a rich cultural bastion of decendants of slaves and that the mayor was only reassuring the impoverished displaced residents that they wouldn't rebuild the town with unaffordable Mcmansions. The cop stated in a sort of veiled racist tone that New Orleans was just a big no good currupt city. I reminded dummy that he lives and works in Chicago, the gold standard of currupt cities----holding the record for having the most assisinated mayors and/or indicted mayors of any other US city in history. The hospitality room is the place of polygraph revelations, argumentation, and free beer and wine. If it is your first time, you will enjoy. Bring a translator as there will be people from the Michigan Upper Pennisula (lol)

Most memorable moment for me at Mid West: 2006; having a long and richly conversational one on one lunch with Lynn Marcey. What an interesting guy!

Ted, if you ever left the hospitality room you might enlighten yourself. By the way that was a lisp not a stutter. You need to apologize to Skip. I frankly can't understand how you have survived so many such rooms. However it probably is where you and Jim get your best idea.

Anonymously, John Smith

As my esteemed collegue from the south, but north of the border, points out, my favorite adult beverage of choice is, FREE! Don't most cops have that particular preference...?

I'm hoping my dept will cough up the $$ for the UPA training seminar. I'll be submitting for it on Friday.
